We’re always looking for fun stories about how people are saving money or enjoying their community through City Saver. Here’s one sent to us from a mom that we had to share. Who doesn’t want to be a super hero?
I am always trying to find ways to be the “hero” around my house. Usually I achieve that status by fixing a good meal (which is rare) or putting a fun snack in my kids’ lunches, but that’s started to get old and somewhat expected. I wanted more! I wanted to really blow the socks off my family and friends. I wanted to not just be “A hero,” I wanted to be “THE hero.” With one swift, smart move, I accomplished this goal.
You know what I did? I purchased a City Saver Coupon Book from my oldest son’s elementary school. Just by making the purchase I was already a hero to my son and his friends because most of the money I spent on the book went back into their school.
Now here is where it gets fun…I began to flip through the book and noticed right away a “buy one open play admission get one free” coupon to Peek-a-boo Playtown that my sons have been dying to go to. Just to save a little money, I’ve been planning on going on a day when my oldest was in school so I wouldn’t have to pay for both kids. Isn’t that horrible! Now, thanks to City Saver, I don’t have to leave one of the kids out. You should have seen their reaction when I told them we were hitting the Playtown after school on Wednesday!
Then I flipped through the book again and saw there were several spa options with incredible discounts. This solved my week-long predicament of trying to decide what to give my best friend for her birthday. Thanks to the City Saver book, I decided to schedule a 60-minute massage for the two of us on a girl’s day at Blue River Canyon and used my coupon for $10 off her massage. She kept going on and on about how I’d done too much. Little did she know it didn’t cost nearly as much as she imagined! It was a perfect birthday!
The next day I thought I’d pick up the book and see how I could be the hero that day. I found the perfect coupon. I told my husband it was for him, but really it was for me (which, realistically means it was also for my husband. Ya know the saying, “when mommy’s happy, everyone’s happy!”). I saw a coupon for A Time To Dance Studio for “buy a one-month lesson package and get a second month free.” We have talked about taking dance lessons for a while, ya know, for something fun and different for us old folks, so I thought with a discount like this, why wait any longer! Not only are we going to learn some new dance steps but we also get a few guaranteed date nights, which are invaluable around our house these days!
So, in just one week, with just one small purchase, I surpassed any level of “hero-dom” I’ve achieved in the past. I have now become “Super SUPER Hero Mom!” I think I could get used to this title.
